Therapy that helps you get back to you
Hi, I’m Janel M. Porter, LMFT
Education
M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy
I am a couples therapist by trade, a trauma worker by heart, and a firm believer that healing is an active, structural process.
My path to this work wasn't accidental. I have always possessed a deep fascination with human behavior, narrative, and the invisible threads that bind families together. Through my clinical training and earning my Master's degree, I walked away with more than theory—I came away with a rich understanding of studying the literal architecture of human liberation.
In the therapy room, my gift is pattern recognition. I look at the chaos, the anxieties, and the relational struggles you are facing, and I help you put the pieces of the puzzle together. I ground our deep psychological work with immense clinical care, a focus on cultural and systemic safety, and highly practical, real-world tools.
I know how terrifying it can feel to step out of the family trance and speak truth. My job is to hold the door open, provide the structure, and hand you the scripts until your own voice is strong enough to carry you forward.
Outside of the therapy space, I am an avid writer and reader of fiction—a passion that keeps me deeply connected to the power of human stories, the depth of our resilience, and the beauty of transformation.
